Radio Program: "God's way or man's way"
Each Sunday at 1 P.M. "God's way, or man's way" is broadcasted on WCPM radio in Cumberland, Kentucky.
The two ministers here at the Mountain View church of Christ share the responsibility of bringing forth this message. The
purpose of the program is to examine common doctrines that are taught within the world and using the bible to determine
whether these doctrines are of God, or an invention of man. This program has been running for over two years and can
reach several thousand people weekly. We've had much positive feedback concerning this radio program and hope it
will help the effort here in Appalachia.
Sick List Card Program:
Each week people are submitted either online or in person to be added to the prayer list. Prayer can do wanders
and we know that all things are possible with God. Each person who is added to the prayer list is sent a card that is
signed by all the members of the congregation. We feel that even something as insignificant as a card signed by all can
sometimes brighten the day of those who are sick or in mourning. If not for just the work of bringing comfort, we hope
also that through this work some can come to obey the gospel.
Harlan Campground Program:
As you might notice next door to the church building is the Harlan County Campground - which is also a
trailhead for the Black Mountain ORV park. Literally, each weekend dozens of people from several states come
to ride off-road in Harlan County. The owners of Harlan County Campground are members of the Mountain
View church of Christ and make it their responsibility to invite all the tourists staying over the weekend to come
to church.
Bible Tract Program:
One of our ministers, Chris Hall, built a few bible tract racks to be placed in local businesses. Currently
there are only two businesses that have allowed us to place bible tracts within their businesses. Our hope is
that through this work people will not only begin to ask questions, but also see that we are up and running
and having services.
Benevolence:
Gal 6:10 says "As we therefore have opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially those of the
household of faith." and James 4:17 says "Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not,
to him it is sin. We do not have much to give in the means of monetary help, but we will not refuse help
to those who are truly in need if we have the means to help them. When a person who is truly in need
has received mercy and help, if they decide to obey God's word, they will turn those who have helped
them...
